Dr. Block is a board-certified ophthalmologist and cataract and glaucoma surgeon who serves patients at ReFocus Eye Health in Meriden and Bloomfield, Connecticut. Recognized for fourteen consecutive years by the Meriden Chamber of Commerce for clinical excellence and honored multiple times as a Connecticut Magazine Top Doctor, he pioneered the adoption of advanced technology lens implants in his practice beginning in 1998 with the Array IOL, followed by progressive innovations including the STAAR Toric IOL, aspheric lenses, and the ReSTOR multifocal lens. His patient-centered approach combines decades of surgical expertise with cutting-edge technology to help patients achieve their best possible vision and regain independence in their daily lives.

Dr. Block earned his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Nutrition from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, before completing medical school at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, followed by his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York, where he rose to Chief Resident and had the unique opportunity to train under Dr. Charles Kelman, the inventor of modern cataract surgery. Board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Block is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians.
For me, ophthalmology isn't just about treating eyes, it's about restoring independence and opening up possibilities for my patients. I've dedicated my career to combining cutting-edge technology with personalized care because I believe everyone deserves to see their best.
