Glaucoma Types and Their Impact on Your Eyesight

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, often due to increased pressure in the eye. This pressure builds up when the fluid that flows in and out of the eye, known as aqueous humor, does not drain properly. The increased intraocular pressure (IOP) can lead to gradual and irreversible vision loss.

Glaucoma usually progresses without noticeable symptoms until significant vision loss has occurred. Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection and management of glaucoma.

There are different types of glaucoma, including open-angle glaucoma and angle-closure glaucoma, each with unique characteristics affecting the eye’s drainage system and vision.

Trust Our Bloomfield Specialists for Advanced Glaucoma Solutions

Our glaucoma specialists are committed to preserving your vision and enhancing your quality of life. Through comprehensive testing and advanced treatments, we ensure a personalized strategy that addresses your needs effectively.

We employ cutting-edge micro stent implants, tiny devices delicately placed in the eye’s drainage system to enhance fluid outflow. By improving drainage, these implants effectively lower IOP. Laser surgery can also be used to enhance the eye’s drainage pathways, allowing fluid to flow freely and lowering IOP. These treatments help prevent further damage to the optic nerve, safeguarding your eyesight.

Don’t let glaucoma compromise your sight or your quality of life. Trust our specialists to guide you through every step of your glaucoma journey. Your vision matters, and we are here to ensure it’s protected.
